Central Pierce Fire & Rescue will be offering babysitting classes (Click Here for Dates). This one day course, Safe Sitter®, is a medically accurate program that teaches adolescents ages 11 to 13 years how to handle emergencies when caring for a child. The class teaches safe and nurturing child care techniques, behavior management skills, and appropriate responses to medical emergencies. Students will learn:How to administer CPR to infants and children.What to do if the child gets a bloody nose.What to say if 911 has to be called.How to screen babysitting jobs to decide whether to accept or refuse.How to change a diaper.Safe Sitter® teaches these skills and much more! Cost of the class is $20 per student. Students who successfully complete the class will receive a Safe Sitter Manual® and a completion card.
