PARKLAND, WA – Firefighters from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a reported garage fire in the 1300 block of 119th St. S. just before 10:00 a.m. on June 16, 2010.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a 20’ by 30’ detached garage with multiple exposures. Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading, but were never able to actually gain access into the garage due to the heavy fire load inside of the garage. The garage was being used for storage and was packed wall to wall floor to ceiling with personal belongings. It took over an hour to completely bring this fire under control.
There were no injuries and the cause was determined to be electrical wiring that was installed improperly according to the Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office who was called in to investigate the fire. Estimated dollar loss is being listed at $30,000
