PUYALLUP FIRE DETERMINED ARSON

PUYALLUP, WA – Firefighters from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 2100 block of 22nd St. SE on June 27 around 4 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames coming from one of the old vacant Pioneer Museum buildings which was approximately 80’ X 150’ in size. Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to adjacent structures, but it took over two hours to extinguish the fire and bring it under control.

 

There were no injuries, but the vacant buildings were a total loss. Fire investigators determined that the fire was arson and Puyallup Police are investigating.



CANYON ROAD FIRES UNDER INVESTIGATION

PUYALLUP, WA - Firefighters from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to a reported structure fire located at 152nd St E. and Canyon Road shortly before 02:00 am on July 7.  Upon arrival crews found a small fire (approximately 18”x 18”) burning inside an abandoned house.  While the fire was being extinguished, another fire was being reported several blocks away at 144th St E. and Canyon Road.  Upon arrival, fire crews found a 20’x 20’ debris pile free burning in a vacant lot adjacent to a commercial structure.  Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and there were no injuries reported.

 

Fire investigators were called to the scene to investigate the cause and to determine if the two fires were related.  Both fires are currently under investigation.
